An intriguing rum from Havana Club here that is the delicious result of some mystery casks! A shipment of Islay whisky casks arrived in Cuba by mistake, and the folks at the distillery seized the opportunity and finished some rum in them. This cask-finished rum was then blended with two other rums, with the help of bartender Nick Strangeway monitoring the flavour profile. The salty, smoky notes from the cask work in harmony with the fruitier notes in the rum. Dry cocoa and a smoky nuttiness, with plump dried fruit, a hint of smoky bacon, over-toasted teacake and dark chocolate-coated peanut.
